Prairie Dog Control Programs
Press Release - November 17, 2008
Kit Carson County has recently updated its prairie dog control programs. There is currently $8,000 of funding remaining in the 2008 budget for legal control of prairie dog populations. January 1, 2009, we will increase that budget to $30,000. The Kit Carson County Weed District will provide a reimbursement, on a first come first serve basis, as allocated funding allows, of 30% of the purchase cost of legal chemicals used to control prairie dogs, up to $2,000 per year.
All treatment of prairie dogs must be done in accordance with State of Colorado requirements and applied between January 1 to March 15 and November 15 to December 31. Purchases must be made between January 1 to March 15, and November 15 to December 31, evidenced by an invoice or receipt and made during the calendar year of the appropriation. The District reserves the right, based on its sole discretion, to determine those eligible for reimbursement.
Please contact Weed District Manager, Ray Flock at 719-348-5875 or 719-349-8133 for more information.
